Yenworthy - day 4

A beautiful day of sunshine on the Devonshire coastline today. First off, the children spent some time exploring the sand dunes before toasting marshmallows on the fire. Some children went down to the shore to dip their welly-clad toes in the Atlantic, whilst others flew kites or created some beach art. After lunch we ventured back into the dunes for some sand-surfing before returning to the lodge for a Christmas meal. We finished the night with a talent show in the lounge. We look forward to a last little explore tomorrow morning before setting off for home in the afternoon.

Yenworthy - day 3

Today the children began the day on the grounds, making fire to toast marshmallows and working their way up the climbing wall. The Yenworthy staff made a point of saying to us on numerous occasions today how impressed they have been with the children's can-do attitude this week.

This afternoon, we travelled down to the beach at Lynmouth and explored the coastline, examining the geology of the beach and the sea life in the rock pools. We finished the day by taking part in an outdoor quiz with the children noting down all the parts of the site they could find by torchlight. We look forward to a day's sand-surfing tomorrow.....

Yenworthy - day 2

Today the children ventured out into the winter wonderland once again. Wrapped up in all of their layers, and the additional kit the centre provided, they explored the local environs: zip-wiring across the pond; clambering over 'the problem-wall'; negotiating 'the maze' before heading onto the slopes for some sledging. All this followed by a well-earned hot chocolate this evening and a good sleep tonight before we go to the beach tomorrow for some rock-pooling and other delights.

Hello parents and carers,

just a quick note to tell you that we had a lovely afternoon in the snow yesterday. The children did some initiative activities on the low ropes course, working together as a team and encouraging one another. After a hearty dinner we ventured out into the evening for a moonlight walk. At one point we switched off the torches and stood in the darkness, listening to the sound of the Atlantic waves rolling into the Devonshire beaches - it was a magical experience. When we returned to the lodge the children had a cup of hot chocolate and looked through some photos of the day. They settled really well and had a good sleep.

Hello Willow class,

I hope you are enjoying the half-term holiday week. Please see detailed below this term's RE KCV. See you in November!
